How ROOST New Zealand reports, sources, dates and corrects its stories.

Who we are

ROOST is an independent motocross and off-road news site for Australia and New Zealand, published by ROOST Media. Stories carry the byline of the editorial desk that wrote them: the ROOST Australia desk, the ROOST New Zealand desk or ROOST staff for stories covering both countries.

Sources and verification

We report from primary sources wherever possible: official results and timing, federations, clubs, series organisers, teams, riders and manufacturers. Where a fact comes from another news outlet we say so in the story and link to it. Every article lists its sources. Quotes are only used where they were published by the source we link to or given to ROOST directly.

Dates

Every story shows the date it was first published. If we materially change a story after publication, it shows an "Updated" date as well. We do not change publish dates to make older stories look new.

Corrections

If we get something wrong we fix it promptly and, for anything beyond a typo, add a note to the story saying what changed. To report an error, use the contact form and choose "Correction".

Images

Every image is credited. We use manufacturer press images, official series and event media, dealer images and free-licence photos (for example Wikimedia Commons). Where a photo is not from the event being reported, the caption says it is illustrative.

Independence and advertising

Advertising and sponsored content is always labelled and kept separate from news. Advertisers do not approve or change editorial stories. See Advertise with ROOST.
