Madoc Dixon: the 2025 MX2 champion
Tauranga rider who won a tense MX2 title decider in 2025.

Madoc Dixon took his first senior national title the hard way. He went into the 2025 MX2 finale in Rotorua with only a four-point lead over Honda's Cobie Bourke.
The Tauranga rider, then with CML KTM Racing, had built that lead early by winning the first two rounds in Tauranga and Rotorua. The second half of the season was tighter. Cody Cooper won the final two rounds, and Bourke and Flynn Watts each won races. But Dixon only needed to stay ahead of Bourke on the final day, and he did, taking the championship by nine points (235 to 226), with Hayden Smith third.
For 2026 he changed to Kawasaki New Zealand and wore the No.1 plate. The defence started badly: the results table shows 28th in the first moto in Invercargill. He recovered to finish fourth overall on 167 points, and his best rounds came late, including a podium in third at the Rotorua finale behind James Scott and Hayden Draper.
A champion who can bounce back from a slow start is dangerous, and Dixon showed in 2025 that he can handle the pressure of a title decider.
