Rakaia's Ben Costello has finished fourth in the senior national MX125 championship two years in a row.
In 2025 he finished fourth on 161 points on a Yamaha YZ125, in a series won by Hayden Draper. In 2026 he was fourth again on the YZ125, this time on 201 points, behind champion Phoenix Van Dusschoten, Carson Carroll and Arama Te Whetu.
BikesportNZ named him among the 125cc riders "showing plenty of talent that will no doubt make them title favourites in years to come."
